On the latest episode of The Scope with Dr. K, Dr. Lawrence Kosinski interviews Laura Wingate, the Executive Vice President of Education, Support, & Advocacy for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation (CCF).
Wingate oversees patient and professional education, state, and federal advocacy, and supports programming for CCF – one of the most well-known IBD patient advocacy groups. Wingate also serves on the American Board of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology Board.
The podcast, which airs on HealthcareNOW Radio, dives into CCF’s mission to cure Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and improve the lives of patients living with IBD.
“We’re laser-focused on reducing the time from disease diagnosis to improving disease management for patients, so they can reach remission faster,” said Wingate.
“We’re advocating for external funding to ensure that research is really working towards…understanding remission and the clinical drivers that are supporting patients getting into remission, so that we can implement better management strategies [for patients], thus ensuring a better quality of life.”
