On the latest episode of The Scope with Dr. K, Dr. Lawrence Kosinski interviews Beth Houck, the CEO of SonarMD.

Houck has more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Before joining SonarMD, she led customer experience for SA Ignite, a cloud-based healthcare technology company helping provider organizations manage performance and compliance with their MACRA initiatives.

Since joining SonarMD, Houck has been integral to SonarMD’s growth and expansion over the past 3 years. After coming on in 2019 as the company’s Chief Customer Officer and transitioning to Chief Operating Officer in 2020, she was named CEO in October 2021. She cites active listening as a tenet of her own personal success, and has ingrained it as a pillar of SonarMD’s company culture.

You can incrementally innovate by just simply listening – it’s the key to solving a multitude of problems. I try to inspire the [SonarMD] team to be very curious and really listen to different stakeholders’ problems, so we can figure out ways to solve them.

The podcast, which airs on HealthcareNOW Radio, highlights Houck’s vision for both the future of SonarMD and value-based care, as well as the opportunities SonarMD has to build off of its engagement model, which is producing around 80% engagement of its attributed patient population.

That [high engagement rate] allows us to develop a very strong longitudinal relationship with a patient and gather patient-reported outcomes that tell us when a patient is deteriorating.”
